Chickenpox is infectious until all spots have formed a scab. Take care not to expose the elderly to an infected person because when contracted in an elderly person it can lead to shingles – a very painful condition.

Try not to let the sufferer pick at the spots and scabs as this may result in scarring.

If any of the scabs become infected please seek medical attention.
