Drosera is used almost specifically for coughs, especially whooping cough.
The cough is deep and barking coming in violent fits. It makes breathing hard. The sufferers face can even go blue. Sometimes it is so violent a nosebleed results. There can be retching and vomiting.
It is always worse a tonight after lying down or after talking (which irritates the throat and sets the cough off).
As a result of all the coughing the chest quickly becomes sore and bruised – you will observe the patient holding their chest as they cough.
It will be useful to compare this remedy to Ipecac and Bryonia when choosing a remedy with these kinds of symptoms.
